Will the price I enter be the price the guest sees?
Not always. The price you enter in your StayLuxe host account is the base price for your property. The amount shown to a guest depends on the currency they have selected while viewing StayLuxe.
How currency display works
Guests can view prices in their preferred available currency. StayLuxe automatically converts your base price into the currency selected by the guest.
For example, if your property price is entered in New Zealand dollars and a guest chooses to view StayLuxe in Australian dollars, the guest will see the converted Australian-dollar amount.
Because exchange rates can change, the converted price may vary over time. The guest’s final price will be confirmed during checkout.
Will currency conversion change the price I set?
No. Changing the guest’s display currency does not change the base price you entered for the property. It changes only how that price is displayed to the guest.
Host payouts are processed in New Zealand dollars (NZD), subject to the fees, taxes and adjustments set out in the StayLuxe Host Agreement.
Why might the guest’s total be higher than my nightly price?
The nightly price is only one part of the booking total. Depending on the booking, the guest’s final checkout price may also include:
- additional nights;
- the cleaning fee set for the property;
- guest payment-processing fees;
- applicable taxes, including GST;
- experiences or additional services selected by the guest; and
- any other charges clearly displayed before the booking is confirmed.
StayLuxe’s guest payment-processing fee is typically between 2.9% and 5%. This fee is charged to the guest and displayed as part of the booking price before confirmation.
Is the StayLuxe host service fee added to the guest’s price?
No. The host service fee is normally deducted from your host payout rather than added separately to the price displayed to the guest.
The host service fee is generally between 15% and 17.5% of the total guest payment, including room charges, cleaning fees and experiences. Your applicable rate is set out in your host arrangement.
Example
If you enter a nightly price of NZD $500:
- a guest viewing StayLuxe in NZD will see the price in New Zealand dollars;
- a guest viewing StayLuxe in AUD, USD or another available currency will see the converted amount; and
- the final checkout total may be higher once the number of nights, cleaning fee, guest processing fee, taxes and optional extras are included.
The converted amount shown in this example will depend on the exchange rate applied at the time.
How can I check the price guests see?
Open your published property listing and select the same dates, number of guests and currency as the guest. Continue to the booking summary to review the nightly charges, fees and total price.
Make sure you check the complete booking summary rather than comparing only the nightly rate.
Important information
You are responsible for keeping your prices, fees and availability accurate. Rates and fees listed on StayLuxe should not be materially higher than the public rates you offer for the same property, dates and booking conditions on other platforms.
Currency conversion and the final checkout calculation may cause small differences between the price entered in your host account and the price displayed to a guest.
This article is a general explanation of price display. If there is any inconsistency between this article and the StayLuxe Host Agreement or other Platform Terms, the applicable agreement and terms will take priority.
